西洋人物廣東珐琅蓋碗

圍繞著碗身和蓋子畫滿了整幅的西洋人物, 有持杯品酒的紳士貴婦, 也有歡笑的小孩. 一片家園閒樂的景像. 當時中國畫家在瓷器和琺琅器上繪畫西洋人物非其所長. 有些是依洋人提供的圖像來畫, 其他就要靠經驗和想像了. 這碗用筆流暢, 人物生動. 是我們歷史和藝術的共同結晶.

Rare Cantonese enamel covered bowl, superbly painted with figures in a continuous landscape, including European men and ladies drinking wine from the European glasses, a cherub blowing a horn and child playing. Drawing European features was a challenge to the Chinese artists. Yet this one shows the natural flow of the strokes and it captures the interesting expression of the subjects. It is a witness to the junction where the east meets the west.
