Tang Bronze Mirror

A Tang bronze mirror, decorated with two phoenix birds.

Description

It is a five lobbed bronze mirror. The decoration at the back is decorated in two sections. Its outer ring has five sets of different flowers. The central section has two phoenix birds, alternated with two groups of winding flowers. They are lively and exceptionally well executed.
This mirror is in almost perfect condition, without any external erosion, unlike the other excavated objects. It has a layer is natural patina, turning the bronze into shiny black. It is a good sample of precious objects passed down from generation to generation for decades.

It comes with a black lacquer box. On the top surface it was decorated with gold drawings of exactly the same pattern of the mirror itself, an obviously made to order match. It is clearly an indication of how the owner loved this mirror.
